Subject: "Grunting"
A post a while back described how a student's tone "grunted" from top-line G
through high C, and was fixed by the replacement of the register key post.
Unfortunately, I was too effective in cleaning out my email archive. Could
someone w/ knowledge please expound on this?

It was I. A student had bought an E-11 A clarinet, and it was grunting -
grunted for me too. She got another one, and it is fine. I mentioned that
Abe Galper's register tube would have fixed the problem, but it is only for
Bb Clarinets. More info on my web page if you want to read about it.
I myself had to have Mark Jacobi replace (made a new one) for my Buffet
Prestige A Clarinet 10 years ago, as it grunted because of the register
tube (was the wrong length).
