The point of all this is that computer generated music holds enormous
promise for rapid development of performance quality in one's playing.
James Galway himself said as much a number of months ago on
the FLUTE list. At the time he was using Vivace to rehearse for an
upcoming flute/harpsichord tour and he uses Vivace because it
is too difficult to keep a harpsichord in tune for the necessary
rehearsals.
Some of you may want to take a look at the other numbers
available in .MOV format at the Manhattan Beach Music Web page.

Galway's quote was "This is the most important invention since the Electric
Guitar". That quote is on the box of the Vivace Practice Studio.
I just got the Vivace Accomp. for the Batman Movies, and it sounds
spectacular. Vivace uses sound fonts that have a very realistic Orchestral
sound. I have about 30 disks of the Vivace accomps from the Mozart
Concerto, Time Pieces, Debussy Rhapsody to the Bernstein Sonata, to Star
Wars movie music. It's all fun for students to play. Full Orchestral
sounds. Ya have to have a good sound card to get the sounds right,
otherwise it sounds like a cheap organ.
