Pete--basically , most professional bass clarinetists perform on Selmer Paris,
Buffet Prestige, or Leblanc Paris bass clarinets. Many play low c extension
instruments, which are priced from 4500-5600 depending on models and dealers.
My preference as bass clarinetist with the Houston Ballet and Opera Orchestras
is the Selmer Paris Bass to low c. My friend, Richard Nunemaker of the Houston
Symphony plays an older Leblanc Paris low c instrument. Hope this helps.
