Cindy--I play an average of 250 services--concerts, shows, ballets, etc a year
and have owned three Buffet clarinets over the past 43 years! My present
R-13, set up by Tim Clark has had one repair trip in the last 6 years. If a
clarinet has cork pads, very high level set-up, there is no need for many
adjustments. However, many clarinetists claim that instruments become" blown
out" withing a 7-10 year period. I am not one of them. Harold Wright of the
Boston Symphony played the same R-13 and Chedeville mouthpiece for his entire
professional carreer. Obviously opinions on this matter differ. Thanks,
Chester Rowell
