Barb--I played the production in Houston. The conductor is very nice, good
musician. I did not play that book, but my friend Tristan Smith did. The
woodwind books are extremely well written, there is some very good legitimate
oboe material, and used to be some English Horn stuff which the conductor
probably took out. The book is not technically difficult like West Side Story,
or as constantly Jazz oriented as 42 second street, but it does require very
good control of the oboe, solid chops on tenor, and some legit feel on
clarinet. Chester Rowell, 1-281-486-4151. Practice your oboe! Thanks
