I assume that when you paint your clarinet, you avoid the tone holes. Or do
you spray paint the whole instrument?

Rather than sanding, you might consider using a deglosser instead. But be
careful...that stuff (xylene I think) is extremely volatile (flammable),
toxic, and will dissolve plastic if used too liberally. Not for kids to try.

I'm not sure I'd want to be the next person to repad a spray painted clarinet
;-)
