What was before the R-13 and how was the R-13 different from the earlier
models. It had never really occurred to me until our recent discussions here
that my teachers (all of whom played Buffet at the time - about 1960 onward)
and the players I listened to as a student may not have been playing on
R-13's. In fact, I have a Buffet with a serial number in the 54000 series,
and it isn't clear to me from the listing on Sneezy whether mine could be
pre-1955 (anyone who isn't sure what I mean can see easily by going to the
listing on Sneezy), which from you've said might mean mine isn't an R-13
either. This has aroused my curiosity.

Thanks for any insight (from Francois or from anyone else).
