You may not have heard right. I am looking at a box of Grand Concert
quarter
strength thick blank reeds. On the back, in small print, it says, "Made in
U.S.A. by Rico International."

Yes Rico has always been/owned LaVoz (pronounced Lah Vohz (like hose), not
La Vase as in something you put flowers in). LaVoz is a subdivision of the
Rico corp. Rico corp. is a sister company along with the Buffet, Carl
Fischer Publishing Co., and Steinway (I do remember seeing Steinway, but
may be wrong) - all owned by the Boosey & Hawkes Corp. That is why the
Buffet E-11 Clarinets now comes with a Rico mouthpiece (no longer the
buffet m.p.). They are sister companies.
