Mark--

There are several extra keys that can be added to the "regular" Boehm
(spelling?) clarinet to make what is sometime referred to as a "full-Boehm"
clarinet. From what you describe, that particular A clarinet has one or more
of these extra keys, one of which is an Eb key.

The extra keys are fork Eb-Bb, Ab/Eb lever (now a standard key on the Buffet
Prestige, Leblanc Opus and Selmer Recital series clarinets), articulated G#,
low Eb (the key that you are referring to), and I believe one other that I
can't remember.

Can someone help with a better explanation?
