Hi Judy,

The Click Barrel is not a gimmick, although it could be made from a better
quality plastic than they currently use. However, I have found it useful
in many situations - primarily those in which I am asked to play with an
ensemble and they end up being so high in pitch that I have to use the
Click Barrel. This has happened when I was asked to perform in a
Christmas Orchestra for State Farm, once when I had to play in an outdoor
concert with a community orchestra, and again when I substituted for a
friend in a community sponsored musical pit orchestra (boy wasn't that
fun!). Each time, the barrel saved me!

I feel it would probably be best used for high school marching band - when
the weather gets cold. Beyond that, the barrel isn't any better sounding,
so I'm not sure that it should be used except in these instances.

Hope this helps!
