It was awarded PE credit even back when I was in high school,
long, long, long (that's three decades... :-> ) ago. And well
it should have been.

That doesn't mean it can't be music *also*. I am proud to say
that the band I was a part of was tops in marching, *and*
concert, *and* sight reading. Our director did not tolerate
less than concert-level performance on the field. Just because
it's marching doesn't mean it isn't music!
