I have not gotten into the fray here, but I want to offer one small
observation.

The above is the statement by Clark Fobes to which you were responding. It
was HE who used the word "professional" which you ignored in your response.
I will gladly accept your figure of 16% who go on and continue to play at
the community band, amateur church, etc., level. But I believe the first
one to confuse apples and oranges in this case was you.
