Muriatic acid *is* hydrochloric acid.
It should also dissolve calcium-bearing deposits, whereas Listerine
probably won't. Most common disinfectants are toxic, as they contain
unpleasant substances such as cresols and/or chlorinated benzene ring
compounds.
