I can further attest to Simon Aldrich's comments about the care James
Ormston (one of the leading symphonic freelancers here in Toronto) takes
with his clarinets; I once saw him take one he hadn't used in a while out
of a humidity-controlled closet, saying that he treats any clarinet he
hasn't played on consistently as being like new and so would only play on
it a few minutes a day until certain it was ready for a full workout.
