The machine that supports this mailing list, along with www.sneezy.org
and a few other music related sites, is ancient by computer standards
(it's a DECStation 5000/600 from 1992 or 3) and is almost impossible to
find parts for it anymore. I've got a drive going to collect enough
money to replace the machine with a more modern server. My company
provides the Internet connectivity for free, I provide the labor &
management of the machine along with a few dollars (around $400-$500 a
year out of pocket) to keep it running and the site updated with new
files & software. I just don't have enough personal money (and my wife
would do things to me that I don't even want to think about if I spent
the family money on sneezy) to replace the machine. Luckily my wife
doesn't read this list, either, or she'd probably not be real happy if
she found out how much I already spend! (and no, I'm not giving out her
email address so you can tell her!)
