In MY "olden days" in college, we memorized all music, even if we did get
it on Monday to play Saturday. Of course, that dictated fairly simple
arrangements. Most bands are playing more complicated music now and would
find it extremely difficult to memorize it all.

Incidentally, this Saturday the Notre Dame Band will be holding a reunion
for the Stanford game. There will be about 600 alumni on the field in
addition to the 300 current band members. You might be able to see me on
TV. I'll be the one playing clarinet! :-)

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is too loud.
