Have seen the foam tubes (about 1.5" or so long) that are designed to slip
over a pencil to make it more comfortable to hold? You can cut the foam tube
in thirds to make 3 clarinet thumb rest cushions. Each one slips over the
existing thumb rest. The tubes come in a variety of colors, too.

I use those too. Muncy sells them as thumbrests ($.99 each), but at the
store you can get a pack of 5 (that make 15) for $1.95. The ultimate
material! I saw them at a "local music store" for $1.79
EACH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (for 1 thumbrest, not a pack of 5 that makes
15) Thumbulz is what they are called, and the company that makes them is DEG.
