Thanks everyone for all of your help with my last question about
a piece for band by Donald Grantham called 'Bum's Rush.' (I'm being
sarcastic--no one had any comments!)

Anyway, so now I'm orking on the Waterson Quartet. My question is, are there
any recordings, any good ones & if not, what is a good tempo for the first
movement? I have been struggling to get it up to quarter note=100 bpm, but
have only succeeded in reaching =90 bpm & having it be even semi-close to
clean.

I know that clean can sound like fast if done properly, but I need something
to shoot for. I am hoping that someone out there can give me some
advice. I think that this work is a little more performed than the
last one I brought up.

Is this not the place for discussions of literture? Not sure is all.

Oh yeah--I wrote a while back about Shifrin's recording of the Copland
Concerto
(amazing!) & my teacher, after hearing me play it, told me to go
listen to the Goodman recording of it with Copland conducting.
Blew my mind. Style out the wazoo. Really makes you feel like
a part of tremendous musical history. Sure, artistic licsence is great, but
to know what Copland had in mind when he wrote the piece--WOW!!!

My two-cents.

Erin
