This seems to be in contradiction to experiences of several people. I know
Joaquin Valdepenas and Bil Jackson use a basset lower joint with a regular A
upper joint because it plays better. Joaquin mentioned there were others
that did the same thing.

I know what you mean however - that since one would think the acoustics are
different in a basset clarinet, two joints from two different types of
clarinets
shouldn't work. But apparently they do. I'll get back to you with my own
impressions when I have time to give it a whirl.
