Ah well, if you tried it, then you really do know, for you, and in the
most important way.

Exactly *how* didn't it work, though, Roger? Intonation? Response? Or
just plain non-fitting-together?

Of course, every instrument has its defects, and sometimes a player
finds it worth putting up with some non-workability in one area, and
getting round it, for the sake of greater workability in another. Could
this be one of those cases, for the other players?

(Playing on period instruments is another case that springs readily to
mind:-)
