A cubic meter is a *big* chunk of wood! The figure is about right, though.
My CRC lists ebony as having a density ranging from 1.15 to 1.33 g/cm3.
Aluminum is 2.7 g/cm3, a little more than twice what ebony weighs.
Magnesium, however, only weighs 1.74 g/cm3, a bit more than the densest ebony.
