If Dee's theory is correct (and I tend to think it is), then it there is
another possible way it could be observed. If the difference in tune is
caused by the difference in the speed of sound as the air density changes
with temperature, then there should be a corresponding difference in tune as
the air density changes due to altitude. The air is far less dense in
Denver. Can anyone comment on differences in tune between "room
temperature" in Denver and some sea level coastal city?

I AM convinced that my understanding of the bore diameter thing was likely
in error, due to bad information given to me over my OWN objections about
the old physics experiment (in other words, I DO agree with Dee at least
that far). But that leaves me without a valid explanation, and I am not
comfortable with the air temperature differential one. That's why I
continue to probe. I do not understand the mechanics of that theory.
