for each way for insurance so that if something happens, it's covered. Read
the airline ticket. Most luggage has a very low reinbursement rate for
theft or damage, even if the airline is to blame for the loss or damage.
It's small enough that I can carry it on even if I have another 2 carry-on
bags, because it goes under the seat, or in my lap. If I had too much to
carry on the trip to be able to carry it on, I would Fedex or UPS it
overnight for $50 for peace of mind.

Packing the clarinet, case and all, INSIDE another piece piece of luggage
full of clothing will not only protect it from physical damage, but will
also insulate it somewhat. If you send it Fedex, it most likely will go by
air, which may subject it to some of the same dangers. Carrying it with
you is, of course, the safest option.

If you have to mic a saxophone, the rest of the band is too loud.
