Are you looking for exclusively "classical" music? If not, I know of a couple
of contemporary works by liturgical composers that use the story of creation
as a text. One is by Marty Haugen, called "The Story of Creation" - it is
part of a larger work called "Tales of Wonder," which is, I believe, published
by GIA. It's for SATB choir, various soloists, children's choir, and an
instrumental ensemble made up of electric keyboard, guitar, drum set, and
various winds - "Tales of Wonder" is sort of a cantata, with almost a "pop"
sound; the work is staged almost like a musical. The other is by Huub
Oosterhuis and Bernard Huijbers, and, I think, Tom Conry - probably published
by Oregon Catholic Press. This one is for SATB choir, schola cantorum, organ,
piano, and instrumental ensemble - contemporary, but much more "churchy"
sounding than the Haugen.
