Duncan McRoberts suggested using Vandoren V-16 tenor sax reeds on bass
clarinet. Interesting, because I've just started using V-16 alto sax reeds on
my Eb alto clarinet (Selmer A series with H* mouthpiece). I had a box of
those reeds lying around because they didn't fit the 1920s-era mouthpiece on
my alto sax, but they won't go to waste, because I prefer them to any alto
clarinet reed I've tried so far. As alto clarinets go, this one has a bolder
tone than most anyway, but with V-16s, the tone is even more resonant, close
to that of a Bb clarinet.
