Generally speaking - one usually almost always has to have different
barrels for both clarinets. Since A clarinets tend to play a little flat,
it is common practice to use 65mm barrels instead of the 66mm standard we
use on Bb. The special bore (Moennig, Chadash, Reverse Cone, etc) have
more of a greater effect on the intonation of the clarinet, and very
little effect on overall tuning. A good idea is to have a 66 and 67mm for
use on the Bb, and a 65 and 64 for use on the A. If you ever find your
self flatter than usual, you can use the 64 on A and 65 on Bb, and sharper
than usual, the 66 on A ad 67 on Bb.

Of course, there are exceptions. Our orchestra's principal has an A that
plays 3 cents sharp, so she uses the 66, and when switching mpcs, switches
the barrel as well.
