Swabs,

My limited observation on swabs is: most of the pupils that use them,
tend to bunch them together in a little ball and stick them in some
little niche in the clarinet case.

I ask the students to leave them open, on top of the instrument. This
way, the swab dries better and the little bit of moisture that is in
them would help the humidity in the case.
Also the swab doesn't get that wrinkled up and may last longer.
I do not think this moisture affect the keys much.
