Dear Francois,

I'm sorry, but I'm unclear as to what "working and moving" in wood is. Is
this between the wood fibers themselves, or do you mean something else?
Is this working and moving what causes cracking? Please explain.

Also, I've heard that clarinets are no longer being made out of
60-year-old grenadilla wood, simply because there are no more of the
older trees, and that the newer instruments are being made out of younger
(and perhaps less desirable) wood. Any comments?

Marcia
