:All of those posts about ligatures got me thinking- I play a Yamaha student
:clarinet, this will be my third year of playing. I am wondering when I
need
:to move up to a more advanced ligature and mouthpiece. Lessons haven't
:started yet this year but full band has.

I have personally found that, for a student, the Rovners are pretty good.
They're inexpensive, and you can adjust the way the ligature makes the horn
sound (bright, dark, etc...) Also, if you are in marching band, if you use a
Rovner light in conjunction with a synthetic reed (Bari, Fiberreed,
Plasticover), the sound, though a little crass, will be overwhelmingly big
and strong.
