Subj: [kl] Breaking in R13

Roger Garrett quoted Francois Kloc's card that comes with new R-13's that
describes their recommended break in procedure:
>>Replace swabs when they become soiled.>>
Replacing a swab just because it's dirty is wasteful. Silk, chamois cloth and
cotton swabs are hand-washable. Just soak the swab for a few minutes in
Woolite or some other hand-washing detergent, scrub the fabric against itself
a reasonable amount (some staining may remain; just scrub enough to get rid of
the pond scum and the cooties), rinse it and hang it over the shower rod to
dry, or better yet, hang the swab in the sunlight, a great disinfectant.

Lelia

Dear Leila,

Of course it is a waist of money to replace the swab when it's durty, In the
card I try to expain that old swab can leaves little pieces into the tone hole
and then keep the moisture into the bore.

Musically Yours
