Regular Application of bore oil early in the instrument's life will not help
prevent the wood fibres absorbing the moisture,It will make the wood work and
move. Like Ed said in his respons the grenadilla wood or Mpingo is very oily
and it need time to dry and it will certainly not happend after few months. I
don't recommend oiling a new instrument or old instrument(exept when it REALLy
need it) because like I said above it will make the wood work and move.
Sometime nothing will happend but often the wood will swell or schrink and the
craking problem will appear. I don't say that oil will make crack I say it
will make the wood move.
