A very good friend of mine who is a master repair technician does not
recommend the use of shove-its in ANY instrument.

1. any moisture lest in the horn stays on the shove-it, which in turn just
sits there right next to the pads.

2. the material leaves fuzzy stuff in the key mechanism and in the bore of
the horn (yuk!)

She recommends a silk swab. Very absorbent, and it easily slides through the
horn.
