I have seen many such defects in the tone holes of older clarinets. I'm not
familiar (yet) with tone hole resurfacing methods so, for these old clarinets,
I use kid leather pads. Probably because they are more supple, leather pads
seem more "forgiving" of small defects than other kinds of pads. Sometimes
this is the only economical way to get those old clarinets making music again.
