Jill,
It sounds like you have a buildup of fluffy crud in your tone holes. Also,
the region around and between your thumb hole and register vent is likely
dirty, too. If you have ever experimented with an "A string" you'd
appreciate the effect sound absorbing material for pitch lowering. Also,
dirty tone holes seem to flatten the extreme register most. Don't ask me
why!
