Welcome to the list. What we call throat Bb here is the weakest note on a
clarinet. The alternate fingering using the A key plus the third trill key
is usually clearer, but may not be as well in tune. Still, it is useful
for some passages.

Adding additional fingers (L.H. middle, and ring finger + R.H. middle, ring
finger, and Low F/C key) will give you a more clear Bb (and A also).
Another solution is to replace the register vent with Abe Galpers's register
key, vent combo. It is designed to extend the length of the register tube
(externally), giving it the length needed to produce a clear note. Since the
tube extends beyond the Clarinet body (about 8 mm)., there is a register key
included. Really simple to install (my repairman did it for me for free, then
seeing how easy it was, I did it for my students). The Bb will be very clear,
and it smooths the upper register. Designed for Buffet R-13's, has been used
and works on the Selmer 10S. Info on my web page.
