I definitely agree with those who say that band music is more physically
challenging. Also, it would seem that the "Lombard effect" is quite strong
in that setting. The players in our community band play way too loud,
presumably, as Karl suggested, to hear themselves. This is similar to what
singers do when they can't hear themselves.
