A week or so ago there were a few notes exchanged about whether Amazon was
selling classical CDs. At the time the answer was apparently "no". I
received a notice today and checked out the site tonight. They are indeed
in the classical business, but not doing any significant price cutting, as
they do on books.

For price and selection, which classical CD sources do people prefer?

Amazon's announcement follows:

You asked us to let you know when Amazon.com started
selling classical music. We're happy to report that the
day has arrived: we've added more than 42,000 classical
and opera CDs to our music store. You'll also discover
thousands of reviews penned by 20 Amazon.com editors and
contributors--including Robert Levine, who has written
for the New York Times, Stereophile, and other noted
classical-music publications, and Ted Libbey, author of
"The NPR Guide to Building a Classical CD Collection."
