I find it much more tiring (but generally more satisfying) to play in a small
ensemble than in a larger setting such as an orchestra or band. For one thing,
in a small ensemble there is NOWHERE TO HIDE. Your intonation must be "right
on," constantly adjusting embouchure to blend with the other woodwinds.
Another thing: there are rarely any measures of rest in ensemble music.
