Orchestral clarinet parts generally demand more responsibility from the
individuals than in band, especially in quality of tone, pitch and
articulation--areas where chops are really put on the spot. Band clarinet
parts tend to serve a more sectional sound and so the individual may not feel
as much pressure. The smaller the section, perhaps the greater the workout.
