A few for starters. These aren't all finger busters,
and not all of them have *prominent* bass clarinet
parts, but the part itself is worthwhile and great
fun in each case (and the pieces themselves are
blockbusters):

Grofe Grand Canyon Suite
Hindemith Symphonic Metamorphoses
Respighi Pines of Rome
Roman Festivals
Ravel Daphnis et Chloe
Mahler Symphonies No. 4 and 7
Gershwin An American in Paris
Dukas Sorcerer's Apprentice
Tchaikovsky Nutcracker Suite
Barber "Medea's Meditation and
Dance of Vengeance"

Hope this gets you started! More varied responses
are sure to come from the list. The Hindemith and
Barber would be particularly good for a youth orch-
estra. Ravel is a stretch (even for professionals),
but Tchaikovsky is always a crowd pleaser (depend-
ing on the selections). Mahler 4 might be interesting
for a youth orchestra, and you'd need a good soprano
for the last movement. I'd think about doing this
one for Christmas.

Neil
