Sorry to creep a bit farther off the topic, but if any of you other doublers
out there can help me out with info about the King Saxello I bought last
weekend, I'd like to hear from you. (For the non-doublers...that's an oddball
1920s-era soprano sax with a slight curve in the bell instead of the usual U-
joint. The Saxello has a darker tone than the straight soprano. Some people
say it has intonation problems, while others believe it has better intonation
than most curved sopranos.) My query about my Saxello on www.classicsax.com
bb has produced no info so far. The serial # indicates pre-1925, probably
1924. I've seen Paul Cohen's article about Kings in the current Saxophone
Journal, and also the small amount of info about the Saxello in his liner
notes to Vintage Saxophones Revisited and In Paul Linemeyer's book, but those
sources don't spell out how many Saxellos H. N. White made, whether it's Bb
pitched (mine is a "garage horn," in excellent condition in most respects, but
needs pads and a neck cork before I can get a note out of it) or whether it
takes conventional soprano sax pads. Please let's email to keep the
wacketysax from honking up too much space on the klarinet list.

Thanks!
Lelia
