Thanks to those who responded to my question about teaching lessons for
the first time (please continue to respond if you haven't had a chance).
I've received some great information to put to use.

I took private lessons probably beginning in jr. high, but my high
school lesson teacher had the most impact. I'm afraid he probably fell
into the "jerk" category and sometimes I left feeling as though I was a
horrible clarinetist! Yet I respected his ability and he did help me
become a pretty decent player. However, I don't see myself falling into
the "jerk" category (nor the "weeper")and want this to be an overall
positive experience for us all.
