The trumpet playing husband of my kids clarinet teacher accompanied a local
choral group that made a trip to Austria a couple of summers ago. They
hired some local musicians to fill out the group. He told me they had a
terrible time with the pitch (they had to follow the local players). He
was able to get up high enough on one of the instruments he took and ended
up playing some solos that someone else had originally planned to play.

The really do play way up there. I am sure some of our European
participants can confirm this.
