The Rubank series is meant to be used as a set. Typically the Rubank
Beginning Method Book takes two years. The Rubank Intermediate would take
one year IF you have been through their beginning book or something equally
difficult. Otherwise it may take you two years to conquer the Rubank
Intermediate Method if you have been using the typical school band books
(which it sounds like may be the case for you). The Rubank Advanced Method
Book comes in two volumes. Each volume is intended to take a year but can
easily take longer.

The Rubank Beginner book, which as I said above is intended for two years,
covers much more that what most students get in school. By the end of this
volume, the student is playing up to altissimo G at fairly brisk tempos.

The Rubank Intermediate book is intended to reinforce the material used in
the beginning book. I believe it also introduces some very elementary
ornamentation.

The advanced volumes drill in many keys and difficult fingering combinations
and continues on topics like phrasing and ornamentation.

If you can, try to get a private instructor to continue your development.
As you can see from my description, you could have completed the Rubank
Intermediate two years ago (or equivalent as there are other good methods)
and be nearly complete with the advanced volumes (or equivalent) if you had
instruction other than what your school supplies.

Although it was long ago, I completed the Rubank (Beginner through Advanced
Volume II) in four years.
