Subj: [kl] Bruch Concerto Op. 88?
Date: Thu, 3 Sep 1998 18:49:18 -0400

Thank you for the post. I was unaware that Max Bruch wrote a concerto for
clarinet & viola--I have never heard it or of it. It isn't listed in the
web sheet music places I looked at--where can I buy it? Are there any
recordings?

Subject: [kl] More clarinet .MUS and MIDI files

I have added the Max Bruch double concerto for A Clarinet and Viola
(piano reduction) to my Web site, ready for downloading.

The World Premier Banso performance of the second movement of this work
took place last weekend at a "gourmet club" dinner; solo instruments were
two
clarinets. A transposition of the viola part to A clarinet works quite
well.
The theme of the evening was Persian cuisine and since all the Iranian
MIDI files I downloaded from the Web caused my laptop to freeze up (for
reasons still unexplained -- obviously some kind of dastardly international
incident in the making) the Bruch had to serve as a not unpleasant
substitute. I haven't yet tried either of the other two movements as a
double
clarinet concerto, nor have I had the pleasure yet of doing the World
Premier
with my violist friend, though I did play it solo live and sili(con)
sidekicks
in the back room off the garden between my clothes closet and writing desk
and
in the company of the usual intimate if somniculous audience.

Happy playing all!
