No, the store I'm thinking of isn't Manny's (altho they are definitely
another fine, huge music store that is worth going to see if only just as a
tourist attraction!). Manny's is on street level, up the block from Sam
Ash.

I remember a much smaller store across the street from Sam Ash that you had
to walk up to the second floor to get to--with an amazing array of
saxophones--but I can't remember the name.

My advice would be to cruise the area. There are at least 10 music stores
in that general area--the sonic equivalent of the diamond or garment
districts.

I think the store across from Sam Ash might be Manny's. That's where
I bought my Mark VI soprano (40% discount for cash) for $400. Of
course, that was during the Pleistocene--but that's still the horn
I play. Can't promise they're still giving that 40%, though.
