There used to be a guy in Chicago who knew a little bit of trumpet playing
(being in the CSO) trumpet making (owning his own manufacturing company) and
teaching, too. Renold Schilke insisted that in an ideal world, it was the
*students* who should have the top line instruments--they need the help
more.
