Hi - I'm new to this list, but I wish that I'd joined much earlier.

I was one of the kids who in High School bought a wood Buffet clarinet
1974)( It took all the money that I'd earned working that summer), and it
made so much difference to my sound, and the ease of playing that I think
that is why I continued playing, and studying clarinet through university
(even though I was a Physics major- and had to work part time to play for my
lessons.)

My advice is buy an instrument you love now - it can easily become a life
long love affair, even if you don't become a professional musician.

Today I still love playing, although I just play in community bands.

I have one question for the list. How can I tell what model number my
clarinet is? Not that it really matters, but after all the recent
discussion, I'm curious.

Thanks,
Carol LeNestour
