Along with some of the excellent ideas already presented - I always
start at the _end_ of a piece, instead of the beginning - for instance,
start at measure 100, then do 99, then 99 and 100, then 98, then 98, 99,
and 100, etc. . Doesn't help the phrasing so much, but helps you learn
the notes. Once you can do the notes by memory you can concentrate on
the phrasing.

This little trick was taught to me by a piano teacher. It's especially
good for memorizing for competitions. Too many people spend all their
time on the first section getting it perfect, but never spend any time
getting the rest of the piece down, and have to cram just before the
competition.
