You could also just look and see if you can find a used R-13 in good
condition. Used horns aren't bad. The keys may not be as shiny, and the
embossments may be worn off, but they still sound the same.
A professional instrument (whether a Buffet, Leblanc, Selmer) will bring many
years of playing ease. But see if you can try other models with your teacher.
Perhaps s/he will like your sound on a Leblanc or Selmer better than a Buffet
or Yamaha (it happens).
Leblancs and Buffets tend to be a more popular resale item.
Professional instruments have better key mechanisms, better wood, and more
consistent hand work. They ease a lot of playing problems with these
refinements.
